We all know it's essential for business owners to embrace innovative tools that can help them save money and streamline their business processes. One such tool that insurance agents should consider incorporating into their marketing strategy is digital business cards. Digital business cards provide numerous advantages that can elevate networking, branding, and customer relationship management.

What is a Digital Business Card?
A digital business card is a modern and simple way to share information electronically. Easily created on your computer or smartphone, these cards are customizable with your logo, brand colors, and fonts.

Share them effortlessly with prospects and clients via text, email, or QR code scanning. In addition to standard details like your name, company, and contact information, digital business cards offer the convenience of clickable links to websites, social media profiles, and downloadable resources.

By providing direct access to information through the simple tap of the finger, instead of cumbersome URL typing, the networking experience is effortlessly enhanced.

Convenient and Sustainable
Another benefit of a digital business card is that you can instantly update your information, eliminating the need for spending more money on reprinting if your contact information changes. Updating a web address or phone number no longer results in wasting 2 boxes of printed cards you didn’t use yet. This serves as an innovative and environmentally conscious alternative to traditional paper business cards.

Did you know that about 88% of business cards end up in the trash within one week? Shockingly, it takes approximately 7.2 million trees each year to produce these cards. This statistic highlights the significant environmental impact and wastage associated with just a week's worth of advertising!

This high discard rate highlights the importance of considering more sustainable and effective alternatives to regular business cards. Ultimately, digital business cards present an eco-friendly, versatile, shareable, and consistently updated approach to sharing professional information.

How to Create a Digital Business Card on HiHello
Head on over to www.hihello.com and choose “Create a Card’ in the top right corner of the site. This will bring you to their pricing page, but you can go ahead and choose the free version to get started. You can always upgrade later once you have decided on the features you need.

Follow along with the form process by creating a username and password, then hit “create account”.

Next, you will be prompted to enter your name, title, your company name and to upload a professional image of yourself. Selfies are not recommended here. Include your business contact number and email address.

Now your first 2 cards have been generated for you, a personal and work card. With the free version, minor design changes can be made. Click on the work card and up near the top left corner, choose "EDIT". Here you have the options to change the main color, upload a logo and add website and social links. Once you have added all the necessary information to your card, go ahead and hit save at the bottom right hand corner.

Sharing Made Simple
You can share it with prospects by texting or emailing them directly through the app. Go back to your cards and click on the one you'd like to share. In the middle, you will see a large QR code for your prospect scan. You can also simply choose email, text or apple wallet and follow the prompts to send.

Another option is to have them scan the QR code and have them instantly add you to their phone contacts. This works well for people who don't have the HiHello app. Here are the steps:
  1. Open your Camera app.
  2. Point your camera at the QR code and tap the notification that appears on your screen.
  3. On Apple. Tap Add to Contacts, scroll down, tap Create New Contact, then tap Done.
  4.  On Android. Tap Add to Contacts, Download, Open File, Import, tap Phone, then tap Import. Have your prospect send their info back as well by asking them to fill out their information and tap Share. Great, now you have your first contact.

If you do choose to upgrade to a paid account you can use the advanced features like accessing your cards' analytics and syncing your current contacts with Microsoft Outlook and Google. There is also CRM integration if you are interested in seamless contact organization. With digital business cards, you'll always have your contact information at your fingertips, ready to share with potential clients, partners, and prospects.

These cards offer a range of benefits that can greatly enhance an insurance agent's networking capabilities, branding efforts, and contact management processes. You can create customized, brand-aligned digital business cards, manage contacts effectively, and integrate with existing CRMs. By adopting digital business cards and leveraging the paid features insurance agents can elevate their professionalism, improve customer relationships, and stay ahead in today's competitive insurance industry.
